Furniture showroom in Jaipur

What you see - A huge metal figurine of a God placed amidst an antique sofa set with a typical Kashmiri carpet in the backdrop is what meets your eye at the foyer of Cottage Industries Exposition. Now this illuminated showroom is divided into multiple sections that include carpets, show pieces, clothing and furniture. Each section is vast and unique in its own way, stocking exclusive stuff made by artisans across India. Amazing as it may seem, but this 14-year-old store is one among the more than 300 such showrooms around the world. Efforts are on to increase the spread so as to promote the waning Indian art.

What you get - Ethnic Indian stuff is available in abundance over here. Broadly, it encompasses furniture, furnishings, show pieces, scarves, stoles and Pashmina shawls. From Kashmir you have exquisite carpets (hand-made and hand-knotted), rugs done with chain-stitch, durries, beautiful kaftans for women (Rs. 2,500), woolen jackets, silk scarves, stoles (Rs. 1,670) as well as ties (Rs. 750), silk cushion covers (Rs. 650 per cover) and royal brocade bedcovers in velvet (Rs. 6,060) apart from wall-hangings embroidered with gold and silver thread.

Then there are jeweled carpets from Agra (actually bedecked with jewels!!). The store manager tells us that these can be framed on the wall. Need we say that it will add a royal touch to your room then? You should check out the showpieces made from Makrana marble (it is said that Taj Mahal was built with this stone) from Rajasthan that cost above Rs. 10,000 here. Pearl jewelry, Bidriware and terracotta wall hangings from Andhra Pradesh, colorful brass bowls, hookahs and flower vases from Jaipur are worth a look as well.

A huge collection of traditional and ethnic furniture comprising reading tables, sofa sets and chess furniture is available here in rosewood, sesame wood and teak wood. Apart from that, this store also has a small jewelry section here that stocks jewelry made of pearls, silver and stones.

Our verdict - This would be a great place to visit if you like to gift your near and dear ones exclusive ethnic souvenirs or want to give your home an ethnic touch. The hand-woven carpets and those typical writing and living room tables are distinctive. The prices are a bit high though. Nonetheless, this shop, we think, is a must-visit - at least for its ethnic splendor.  https://advertisementbiz.com/Jaipur/furniture
